About
A different kind of software company.
Apptics is a small specialist software studio based in Ireland, working with businesses that know something could work better.
Why we exist
A simple idea.
Software development has changed dramatically. Most small businesses haven't felt the benefit of that yet.
AI has reduced the cost and complexity of creating software. Work that used to take a team months can now be designed, prototyped and built in a fraction of the time.
Meanwhile most businesses have ended up running across a scattered set of websites, spreadsheets, messaging apps and platforms that were never designed to work together. The gaps between them get filled by people, manually, every day.
Apptics exists in that gap. We're not here to sell you a transformation programme. We're here to find the two or three things that would genuinely make your business easier to run, and build them.
a note from the person you'll actually talk to
Most software companies would rather you arrived with a specification. It's easier to quote, easier to scope, easier to bill.
Almost nobody has one. What people have is a nagging sense that something takes too long. So the first thing I try to do is put a number on it, because the number is usually worse than the feeling.
Three that come up constantly:
-
Someone re-types order details from email into the accounts system.
Twenty minutes a day is about 80 hours a year — two working weeks spent moving information that had already been typed once.
Connect the two systems so it copies itself.
-
The month-end report takes a day and a half.
That's eighteen days a year, usually from whoever's time is worth the most, producing numbers that are three weeks old by the time anyone acts on them.
A dashboard that builds itself, from live data.
-
An enquiry arrives on WhatsApp while someone's on site.
It gets answered on Thursday, or not at all. You don't have to miss many before the missed ones cost more than the thing that would have caught them.
One inbox that routes, assigns and chases automatically.
None of those are big projects. The test I'd apply is a simple one: does it pay for itself inside a year? Usually you can work that out on the back of an envelope before anyone writes a line of code.
So the first conversation isn't a sales call. It's me asking how your business actually runs, and being a bit nosy about your spreadsheets, until we find the one where the arithmetic is obvious.
And if the honest answer is that you don't need software built, I'll tell you that. It has happened before. It will happen again.

What we bring together
Four things, in one small team.
Design thinking
Starting with people and problems rather than features. Watching how work actually happens before deciding what to change.
Business understanding
Before we design anything we learn how the business actually runs — what a quote, a job sheet and a month-end really involve.
AI
Used in how we build, and inside what we build — but only where it does something a simpler approach can't.
Modern development
Current tools, sensible architecture and software that someone else could pick up and maintain.
Small on purpose
Small is the advantage.
We're not going to pretend to be bigger than we are. Being small is most of the reason this works.
- Direct communication
- You talk to the people doing the work. No account manager relaying messages.
- Senior expertise
- The person designing your solution is the person who builds it.
- Faster decisions
- Small teams decide in a conversation rather than a steering group.
- Less overhead
- No layers to fund, so more of what you spend goes into the work itself rather than the overhead around it.
- Practical projects
- We'd rather ship something useful in three weeks than plan something perfect for six months.
Who we work with
Irish businesses that have grown, rather than been designed.
Typically 5 to 250 people, already using several software platforms, and still holding a surprising amount together with spreadsheets, email and WhatsApp.
- Construction
- Property
- Professional services
- Retail
- Hospitality
- Logistics

- Healthcare
- Education & training
- Service businesses
What we do, in three words
Understand. Simplify. Build.
